New vintage pattern

Well, new to me, that is; picked up a really useful pattern for three styles of mens' gloves in DK for only 20p.  Although I know I can knit gloves without a pattern it's always useful to have a good apttern of a basic such as gloves for basing my own designs on. Very pleased :)

Steaming ahead

Been getting a lot of knitting done in among other things, and am pleased with the finished waistcoat; it needs buttons,  but that will involve a trip to town. In the meantime, I think it's turned out beautifully, and I love the colours and self-striping.  Will post a pic when completed.  The natural dyed fulled gloves turned out not quite how I was hoping, but I still like them. The hot wash for fulling did take its toll on the subtle vibrancy of the colours, but I like the way they've ended up. slightly too large, but nice and chunky and very warm, so definitely ones for the coldest of days to come :)

 

 

The old rose pink wool has arrived for the cabled cardi I posted a picture of, so will be casting that on soon I hope :)

Now on the needles

I started this on Saturday night. The pattern is from a Peoples' Friend magazine, but I wanted something a bit brighter than the grey in the original.  I bought some half-price Adriafil  Lunare in a self-striping turquoise with a slight sheen to it - hence the slightly odd pictures of it, the camera didn't like it at all!  Have finished one of the fronts, and cast on for the other, and am pleased with how it's going. The fabric is not as open as the first picture would suggest, ad the colours remind me of tropical seas :) I'm looking forward to choosing some special buttons for it too.

Fishtail cardi

This one is for me :)  Finished it at last, and am very pleased with how it's turned out. Moss stitch borders and collar, stocking stitch short sleeves with picot edgings, body worked in a simple fishtail lace design.  Knitted in a beautiful cherry red shade of Rowan Cashsoft.
